Dannielle Finnerty Psychology

My Approach
My practice is grounded in the belief that therapy should resonate with you — your personality, your circumstances, and your challenges. I aim to provide a space where you feel understood and supported, but also gently challenged to grow.

Rather than applying a one-size-fits-all approach, I draw on a range of evidence-based therapies, including:
-
Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) – to help recognise and shift unhelpful thinking patterns.
-
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) – to build psychological flexibility and self-compassion.
-
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) – to strengthen emotional regulation and distress tolerance.
-
Strengths-Based and Empowerment Approaches – to reconnect you with your capabilities, values, and inner resources.

Whether you’re navigating ADHD, recovering from emotional abuse, struggling with negative self-talk, or learning to manage strong emotions, my focus is on helping you develop the capability and confidence to do hard things — not by pushing yourself harder, but by working smarter, with compassion and self-awareness.

I know that seeking therapy can be daunting, especially in small or remote communities. My goal is to make the process accessible, genuine, and meaningful — a place where real change feels possible.
About me

Hello, I’m Dannielle Finnerty, a registered psychologist who believes therapy should make sense — not just in theory, but in your everyday life.

After many years living and working in the city, my family and I made the move to a remote town in North Western Australia, where we’ve embraced a slower pace and a stronger connection to community.
I live here with my husband and our two children, and it’s given me a deep appreciation for the realities of distance, isolation, and the many unique barriers people face when seeking support.
